Developmental Milestones
Developmental milestones are key skills or objectives that your child should obtain naturally on their own through growth and development. We track these milestones in the categories of cognitive, communication, social, emotional, adaptive, and physical development.
Cognitive
Child can retell stories from picture books.
Child can build pyramid of six blocks.
Child can draw people.
Child can copy their own name.
Child can draw a face with at least three features.
Communication
Child can use facial expressions and body language to demonstrate their emotions.
Child can understand passive sentences.
Child can make statements about cause and effect.
Child can define at least five simple words.
Child can tell how simple objects are used.
Social-Emotional
Child should return objects to their appropriate place.
Child should accept friendly teasing.
Child should explain rules of a game to others.
Child should express anger with words rather than physical action.
Child should show empathy for others.
Adaptive
Child should dress self completely.
Child should serve self at the table.
Child should want privacy in the bathroom.
Child should answer “what to do if” questions.
Child should fasten seatbelt independently.
Physical Development
Child can copy a square.
Child can gallop.
Child can jump over low objects.
Child can glue neatly.
Child can walk down steps alternating feet.
Child can walk on tiptoes.
