Pediatric Feeding Therapy

What is pediatric feeding therapy?

Pediatric feeding therapy helps mealtime become something the family enjoys. At Ability Innovations we use play based methods to help your child obtain a more enjoyable experience from meal time. Our Feeding Therapists are trained in a variety of feeding approaches to help your child reach their goals the best way possible. We also help your child become comfortable around foods they may have aversions to. We help parents understand whether their child is just a picky eater, or has an aversion to certain kinds of food. We work with the child to overcome food aversion and lead a healthy life. Pediatric feeding therapy is for individual ages 0-21 and sessions are tailored to the child’s needs.

Feeding therapy focuses on helping a child to learn to eat or expand the variety of foods they are willing to eat. At Ability Innovations all feeding therapists are trained prior to providing feeding services. At AI all therapists use a responsive feeding approach to help children with any feeding difficulties (self-feeding skills or expanding variety). This approach puts the child as the one guiding the learning and the therapist helping with their learning experience.
